Lisa’s passion has been helping kiddos through speech therapy to live their best lives. The freedom that communicating with your family and friends brings a child can brighten the entire world for a struggling kiddo.
Lisa's been helping families with early childhood communication interventions in public schools and private practice. She loves the kiddos and is able to connect with them through fun sessions that her students look forward to. As the kids are challenged through play and fun, Lisa expertly employs speech pathology techniques and skills to reach their data-driven outcomes.
Dr. Lisa Bergeson is serving on the Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (KSHA) executive board as Vice President for SLP. There, she has fought for and influenced speech and language pathologist legislation and introduced innovative care methods across the state.
As an early childhood speech therapist, Lisa has been recognized with multiple Teacher of the Year awards and an Educator of the Year award. Speech therapy has been a rewarding calling and Lisa's priority is she loves the kids. Lisa's passionate efforts and effective speech and language pathology interventions, strategies, and teachings have helped families across Kansas and Missouri.
Lisa is leading innovation and efforts to help kids, she has written and won grants that received funding from the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation for Excellence in Education, which are related to the use of video modeling, playground communication boards, and universal design for learning materials. The video modeling grant was selected as Kansas In-service Training System (KITS) Best Practice Award Winner for the Shawnee Mission Early Childhood Special Education Program for the 2014-15 school year.
Lisa Bergeson graduated from Truman State University Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Communication (Speech and Language Pathology) Disorders in 2001. She received her Master’s Degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of Northern Iowa in 2003. Lisa excelled in her pediatric speech therapy practice in the public school system. Then, in 2024, she returned to academia at the University of Kansas and received her Clinical Doctorate Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, focusing on language-based learning disorders and early intervention.
